Disclosure |
This material is cited in a US or other Patent and may not be used to
infringe the claims. Depending on the wishes of the Depositor, ATCC may be
required to inform the Patent Depositor of the party to which the material was
furnished. This material may not have been produced or characterized by ATCC. |
Derivation |
This line was established by Popovic et al. in 1983 from neonatal cord blood by co-cultivation with an HTLV-I producing cell line, MJ (see ATCC CRL-8294). |
Clinical Data |
male
neonatal |
Comments |
The cells express a cell surface glycoprotein of 61000 daltons (45000 daltons when not glycosylated) that is characteristic of HTLV infection. |
Complete Growth Medium |
The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Iscove's Modified Dulbecco's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2005. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 20%.
|
Subculturing |
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Establish new cultures at about 2 to 4 x 105 cells/mL and maintain between 4 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL.
Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:2 to 1:3 is recommended
Medium Renewal: Twice per week |
Cryopreservation |
Complete growth medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X. |
