Animals were immunized with purified recombinant human IL-1 beta (170500 dalton form). Spleen cells were fused with P3X63Ag8.653 myeloma cells. The antibody reacts specifically with IL-1 beta and does not react with IL-1 alpha or with acidic or basic fibroblast growth factor. It recognizes an epitope distinct from that bound by ILB1-H6 and ILB1-H34 (ATCC HB-10219 and ATCC HB-10221). The affinity constant of ILB1-H67 was measured to be 4.8 X 10 exp10 liter/mol. |
