Comments |
This item is a representative of a newly identified rickettsial species (Rickettsia raoultii), a gram-negative, obligately intracellular and non-motile bacterium. It is genetically identical to the type strain for this species (Khabarovsk, isolated in 2005) at all loci sequenced. The preparation available through ATCC tested positive for mycoplasma contamination (M.orale) by PCR. Requests for this agent require special permits and a signed statement assuming all risks and responsibility for laboratory handling. Bacteria visible in cells following staining with Gimenez stain |
