Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BamHI--5.4; EcoRI--5.4; SacI/XbaI--3.2, 1.8, 0.41. The galactokinase (GALS) promoter is a deletion variant of GAL1, which lacks one and a half of the 3 UAS elements required for full induction of the promoter by galactose. The promoter is tightly repressed by glucose and is induced at a moderate level by galactose. Low copy number shuttle expression vector. One of 32 yeast expression vectors (ATCC 87318-87349) differing in promoter, selection marker and replicon. |
