AM-MLV (ATCC VR-1448) is an engineered broad host range helper virus. It is a fusion of amphotropic virus 4070A pol-env with Mo-MLV gag region. It can infect a wide range of mouse cell types (including BALB/c) as well as human and chicken cells. This AM-MLV clone can be used as a reference standard for detection of murine retroviruses. The Hybrid Amphotropic/Moloney Murine Leukemia Virus, pAMS, was constructed by inserting the 1541bp SalI-ClaI 4070A pol-env containing fragment into homologous region of Mo-MLV using the cloning vector pBR322 as a backbone. |
