This is a shorter version of Myf-5 which extends from the PstI site at nucleotide 185 to 1430. It does not include the complete coding sequence, which extends from nucleotide 43 through 807.
Shows weak cross-hybridization to the mouse MyoD1 probe. Amino acid sequence has a region highly similar to myc proteins and the Drosophila developmental factors achaete scute and twist.
